Juanan Country Garden GC08 Jan 2020
Taking advantage of the recent pleasant weather, we ventured to Shun De which is located in Guangdong and is around 2.5 hours drive from the Huangguan terminal. We managed to secure a great deal providing two days golf plus hotel for just 1150 RMB!
With two days of golf, the format was for the first day to be a stableford event and the second a friendly game. On day 1, the first to tee off were Steve Lee and myself. In my memory, Steve has not been playing very well for a while since his left elbow was injured. However, he played some exceptional long game and precision iron play, He could easily drive 250 yards in the middle of the fairway, and his iron play has improved dramatically. Out of 18 holes, I reckon he hit at least 8 greens in regulation. However there is always some problem in golf, and Steve’s was a putter that insisted on hitting the ball to the right resulting in many bogeys. He finished with 108 and 25 stableford points. As for me, I was basically stuffed after the members got slightly carried away and ordered 16 dishes for 3 people. Having done more than my fair share of effort to consume it, I could barely swing the club round my stomach which lead to 10 over for 5 holes! However, I managed to fight back at the back nine to score 4 over par and scored 88 total with 34 points to claim the victory of this event!
After the round, we gather around at 6pm and went to a famous restaurant which serves Shun De food with special food pairing. If you do go there, do order the fish soup and steam pork! These are two signature dishes that I believe only the chefs in Shun De know how to make. After the meal, we headed back to the club house.
On the next day, we just played casually and came back to Hong Kong around 4.30pm. From everyone faces, I know everyone has enjoyed this trip so much and we hope to see you in the next event.
Overall scores of the event
1. Ted Li – 34 stableford points
2. Steve Lee – 25 stableford points
