    Rising Stars: Squash Section's Junior Players Shine at 2023 Hong Kong Junior Squash Cup

    The Hong Kong Junior Squash Cup 2023 held at the Hong Kong Squash Center drew some of the city's most promising young squash players, who put on an impressive display of skill and determination. From the Gu19 to the Bu9 categories, the tournament saw some exciting matches and impressive performances.

    In the GU19 category, Mariko Tam emerged as the champion, marking her first win since 2019. Tam's victory was a commanding one, with her precision and power proving too much for her opponents. Valerie Huang finished in third place, while Hailey Wong claimed a hard-fought fifth place, demonstrating their potential to become top players in the future.

    In the GU17 category, Alyssa Ho secured second place, impressive with her agility and precision. This was her first local tournament since studying abroad in the US Jillian Lam and Clarissa Li both showed impressive skills to finish in fourth and fifth place, respectively, while Ka Wing Tse finished in seventh place, demonstrating the depth of talent in this age group.

    In the GU13 category, Hau Ching Chiu displayed excellent technique and court awareness to secure second place, showing her potential to become a top player in the future. In the Bu13 category, Ethan Bai finished in fourth place, impressive with his speed and precision on the court.

    Even the youngest players put on an impressive display, with Morton Tess finishing in fifth place in the GU9 category and William Pun taking fourth place in the same age group. These young players demonstrated remarkable skill and determination, boding well for the future of squash in Hong Kong.

    The Hong Kong Junior Squash Cup 2023 was a testament to the hard work and dedication of these young athletes, as well as the support they receive from their coaches and families. The tournament showcased the depth of talent in Hong Kong's junior squash scene, promising a bright future for the sport in the city.

    We are proud to see our young players performing at such a high level. We look forward to supporting these rising stars as they continue to develop their skills and represent our club and city on the international stage.
