    Get Preseason Ready

Preseason is Right Around the Corner

Preseason is right around the corner, or for some, it’s already begun. That means tough sessions, sore muscles, and realising you might have spent the offseason getting a little too relaxed.

Never mind that! The summer offseason is a time to refresh and relax, but the time for dusting off those cobwebs and getting moving again is upon us. Here are a couple of things you can do to give yourself the best chance of feeling fit and staying fit as you get back into your sport.

    1. Prepare your body

Before you walk straight back onto the pitch or the court and go crazy, pulling your hamstring in your first sprint, it’s probably a good idea to physically prepare your body.

Whether you’re inside the Fitness Centre for a nice air-conditioned workout or outside on the Training Triangle, still working on your summer tan, there’s a good variety of equipment and exercises available.

Try hitting some compound exercises like squats and bench presses, then narrow down to more specific areas relevant to your sport by incorporating accessory work for your hamstrings, hip flexors, or shoulders. Don't go all out first session, start off light and work on getting some good movements into those muscles and joints.

It might be smart to also get your heart working before you get back into it, that'll help you feel a little less uncomfortable in your first sessions back and might give you a bit of an edge over some of your less prepared colleagues. Head out for a couple easy runs or swims just to get the blood flowing and your heart rate up.

    2. Dial in Your Nutrition

You may have enjoyed a few too many margaritas and summer lunches, so it’s a good idea to start cutting out some excess and fueling your body for performance by getting good amounts of protein and high-quality ingredients.

There are some excellent post-workout meals designed specifically for athletes available at the Sportsman’s Bar, as well as fresh ingredients ready for you to take home at the Kiosk.

    3. Prepare Your Kit Bag

Lastly, make sure you’re ready to get back to training and have everything you need. The Club Shop has a variety of sports accessories to suit all your needs, including sports tape, tennis grips, compression sleeves, foam rollers, and much more.

Preparation is key, and these are just a few easy steps to help you perform and stay in your sport for longer.

Stay tuned to the club channels as there will be some new developments to support your recovery coming soon!
